Seven Steps to drafting a Best Practice Vaccination Policy

COVID-19 Vaccine Bottle

Yes, your company must have a vaccination policy. That’s why we are sharing 7 steps to drafting a best practice vaccination policy.

Throughout the Coronavirus pandemic, there has been a lot of information provided from various sources. Some of the information is excellent, whereas some of the information may be regarded as ‘fake news’. This is especially true when it comes to the vaccination of employees for COVID-19.

We all want what is best for our business and our employees, and there are a lot of areas to consider when it comes to drafting a policy for the vaccination. What is clear is that businesses that create clarity with all their staff and their customers, through the development and communication of their own Vaccination policy,  will be ahead of their competitors. A vaccination policy, supported by an open and collaborative approach with their staff will also demonstrate a company’s moral integrity and care for both their staff and customers.

Here are Park City’s simple seven steps to follow if drafting a Vaccination policy.

Seven Steps to drafting a Best practice Vaccination policy:

  1. What is the policy for.
  2. Who does the policy apply to.
  3. What is the current Status of the vaccine and the government's status?
  4. What is your company's Stance on this vaccine? (This is where you are going to influence or nudge your staff towards the benefits of taking the vaccine)
  5. How are you helping staff to understand the benefits of taking the vaccine?
  6. How can staff discuss their concerns, their questions, their decision in a safe confidential environment?
  7. What are going to be the conditions applicable to time off and pay in relation to those who decide to have the vaccine? Allowed time off? Paid time off?

A Vaccination Policy will create some boundaries for management and staff to work within and avoid potential conflict and misunderstandings. For helpful guidance download our Guide to Creating a Vaccination Policy
